Kusum Lawrence

was brought up around Yoga teachings from the earliest age, at the Mount Madonna Center. She completed her Teacher Training in 2009. Kusum describes her teaching style as playful, grounded, and authentic to the Yoga tradition. She loves that Yoga connected her with her inner Self through the breath and through movement, and also to feeling connected to something greater than herself. She is inspired by how the practice helps people to adapt to what their body needs and to value slowing down.

Kusum is a Hospice Nurse who lives in Watsonville and works in Santa Cruz. She has also lived in San Francisco, Oakland, Oklahoma City, and has traveled to 15 different countries and counting!

Kusum hold her teachers' influence close in her practice and teaching: Baba Hari Dass, Kamalesh Ginger Hooven, Dawn Hayes, and her Aunt, Rachel Mor, who has been teaching for 30 years. She is an adventurous and kind woman who WYDHA founder Phoenix is grateful to have discovered while dancing together in Zumba! at the park.
