Ruby Vasquez

Born and raised in Watsonville, Ruby began dancing Mexican folk dance at the age of five. She has been dancing since then, only taking a break while studying for her teaching credential at UCSC. Upon graduating, Ruby began dancing with the local Watsonville group "Esperanza del Valle", where she is currently Assistant Director and part of the core dance troupe. About 10 years ago Ruby started a children's Folklorico group called "Estrellas de Esperanza", where she has been able to continue to pass on the traditional dances to local children and youth.
